 An entertaining Norwegian Club - Culture Event for the Gentlemen to enjoy the comaraderie of good friends and reflect back on the legends & lore of a Norwegian-American 
John A. "Snowshoe" Thompson (Jon A. Torstenson-Rue) 
"Mailman of the Sierra"

Born in 1827 at Telemark, Norway & emigrated to America in 1837.  Snowshoe Thompson carried the mail between Placerville CA and Genoa NV between 1856 & 1876 traversing the mighty Sierras on a pair of homemade long skis carrying a mail bag of 50-100 pounds strapped to his back.
